Biography

Charlotte Sessions is a singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, arranger and producer from Roselle Park, New Jersey. Her music infuses an eclectic blend of thought-provoking lyrics and sophisticated harmonies that spread across various musical genres, such as jazz, rock, soul and folk.

Charlotte had an interest in music for as long as she can remember. Some of her biggest influences are Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Carole King, Elton John, Sara Bareilles, Jamiroquai, Norah Jones, and Steely Dan. She started improvising on the piano when she was three and sang and played the flute when she was eight. She performed in a lot of talent shows, concert bands, school choirs and plays all throughout middle and high school. She started writing songs when she was fifteen and performed the first song she wrote at a talent show during her senior year of high school. While going off to Rutgers University in 2016 to study cognitive science, she was mainly writing songs about heartbreak and unrequited love and performing at open mic nights. Her passion for music eventually lead her to transfer to the world-renowned Berklee College of Music as a piano principal in 2019. Since then, she has written over 40 songs and learned valuable skills such as arranging, producing, orchestrating, conducting, musical theater writing and composing for visual media. She graduated summa cum laude from Berklee in 2022 with a Bachelors in Contemporary Writing and Production/Professional Music.

Charlotte released her very first single titled “Should I Be the Man?” on all streaming platforms on February 14, 2023 and her second single titled “I’ve Fallen for a Dragon” on February 2, 2024. She has also had various experiences performing solo (piano and voice) and with a rhythm section in the NJ, NY, MA and CT areas. She will be attending NYU’s Songwriting Master’s Program this upcoming fall.

While "Should I Be the Man?" is a great introduction to Charlotte's talents, "I've Fallen for a Dragon" really showcases Ms. Sessions' versatility. I really hope the song can latch on to a radio or Internet station because this young woman should be going places.
"With a doo-wop vibe but a contemporary composition, ‘Should I Be the Man (Radio Edit)’ is a fascinating track that delights from the get-go. It's got a beat that makes you swoon, a power in the melody that sinks right into your skin and a texture in the vocal that is unmissable."
“In a grave, deep and boring musical landscape, the New Jersey native focuses on uplifting and radiant pop material, drawing an eclectic baggage of influences especially focused on soul and jazz formulas. Think Sara Bareilles and Norah Jones.”
"Charlotte Sessions’ message in “Should I Be the Man?” is engaging and clear to comprehend, as she sings and conveys unvarnished and sincere feelings, allowing audiences to connect with her on a personal level."
“Should I Be the Man is a bouncy pop song that has as much in common with the jazz genre as the soul movement. The piano is timed perfectly with the beat, having a wonderfully upbeat quality that makes the track get stuck in your head instantly.”
